Opportunity description
The Space Environment Research Center (SERC) is offering students with or without an approved competitive higher degree by research (HDR) scholarship the opportunity to apply for a supplementary SERC Postgraduate Top-Up Scholarship in any Australian university. Research programs of the center include:
Program 1: Tracking, Characterising and Identifying Objects in Orbit, and Preservation of the Space Environment
Program 2: Orbit Determination and Predicting Behaviours of Space Objects
Program 3: Space Asset Management
Program 4: Space Segment
Eligibility criteria:
[1] Applicants must fulfill the master’s or PhD admission requirements for the relevant university, including English language requirements
[2] Applicants must have a First Class Honors degree or equivalent and undertake Masters or PhD studies associated with one of the four SERC research programs
[3] Applicants for any competitive higher degree by research scholarship need to be submitted directly to the relevant university
[4] Students receiving or applying for any other scholarships in conjunction with a SERC scholarship must notify the center of full details as part of the application process. Explicit agreement by SERC is required to hold a scholarship from the center in conjunction with any other scholarship
[5] Applicants must be prepared to enter into commercial confidentiality and intellectual property agreements if their research topic requires access at any level to the center’s facilities or if they intend to seek as an extension of the award a SERC-funded posting to Japan, USA or any other international space research centers
[6] Students who do not have an HDR scholarship must include transcripts in their application form
Value of the scholarship:
Students will receive $12,000 plus up to $3,000 of additional discretionary research fund (2016 rate) per year for full-time programs.
