The Center for Strategic Studies at the University of Jordan invites researchers to participate in the annual research competition for the King Hussein Bin Talal Chair for both Jordanian and international studies for 2019. The competition aims in its first year to contribute to creating a research environment for young students and researchers, to encourage them to research and compete in areas related to the era of King Hussein’s reign and achievements in the fields related to their academic specialization, benefiting from their scientific capabilities and providing them with enough tools to explore the achievements of the late king and the history of his era. The theme of the competition is “the role of the late King Hussein Bin Talal in promoting youth in his era”.
Requirements:
- Applicants must be students, researchers or academics between the age of 18-30
- The research must be prepared specifically for the competition and has not been published or submitted to any other party
- Applicants must submit 3 hard copies and a CD copy by May 5, 2019 to the Center for Strategic Studies at the University of Jordan
- The decision of the award committee to accept or reject is final while retaining its right not to give reasons or to withhold the prize
- Eligible are students and researchers in universities, colleges and scientific institutes in Jordan in one of the selected fields of research in political, historical, economic and social fields, including development and youth, education, health and urban development, history of Jordan and the construction of its institutions during the reign of King Hussein
- Submitting an electronic copy of the research in doc or dox format
- Research must be typed with one space between the lines provided that the research must not exceed 8,000 and must not be less than 6,000 words (font size is 13) including tables, pictures and drawings, and excluding attachments and questionnaires. The names of the applicants must be written in Arabic and English
- The research submitted must be to the standards of scientific research, according to the considered methods of documentation
- Including a list of sources and references at the end of the research, including full bibliographic information indicating the documents and where they were found
- The research must be characterized by novelty and originality, written in a sound language with objectivity in handling subtraction, avoiding the mention of general judgments based on guessing motivated by emotion
- Photographs and copies of documents used with high quality and high levels of clarity
- Minimizing the referral to materials published on the internet (it’s preferable not to use them), as these sites are constantly modified or canceled
- Entries are accepted in both Arabic and English
- The work submitted must not have been previously published in any form, and not derived from a university thesis
- The winning work shall be the property of the Center for Strategic Studies and is available for all uses, including its presentation and availability on the website, and published in a special book

Prize:
- The first prize is 1,000 JD
- The second prize is 750 JD
- The third prize is 500 JD
- Each winner is awarded a shield in addition to a certificate of appreciation from the center
- The three winning entries will be published in a book and the winner will be provided with one copy of the book in which the research will be published
