Opportunity description

Korea University (KU) invites students in Student Exchange Program (SEP) and Visiting Student Program (VSP) to apply for the Global KU Study Abroad Scholarship which was established in 2005 in celebration of the university’s centennial.  Types of scholarships include Admission Scholarship, KU Travel Scholarship and Merit Scholarship. Admissions and KU travel scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit at the applicants’ home institutions, and funding for the scholarships is subject to availability.

Eligibility:

[1] Applicants must be SEP and VSP students

[2] Applicants must be enrolled in an acknowledged institution outside of Korea, in a country that is recognized by the Korean government as of December 1, 2004

[3] Applicants must have completed or about to complete at least one year of study at their home universities at the time of applying

[4] Applicants must have an overall average of at least 75% at their home institutions

[5] Applicants must have obtained a successful admission for SEP or VSP at Korea University

[6] Applicants must be fluent in either English or Korean

[7] Faculty/institution/national quotas may apply

[8] Students who extend the duration of their study at Korea University from one semester to two semesters are eligible to apply for ‘Merit Scholarship’ at the time of approval on extension

Funding:

[1] Admission Scholarship: A maximum of 400,000 South Korean Won per month for the first semester (4 months)

[2] KU Travel Scholarship: Designed to help students meet basic travel costs, a one-off payment of up to a maximum of 1,500,000 South Korean Won according to distance and currency rate

[3] Merit Scholarship: Awarded on the basis of academic merit of the first semester at Korea University, 300,000 South Korean Won per month for a second semester (4 months). Only applicable to exchange/visiting students who participate in a one-year program
