World Photography Organisation invites emerging 12-19 year old people, enthusiastic hobbyists, students and professionals to participate in the Sony World Photography Awards for 2019. The Awards is one of the most celebrated and diverse photography competitions in the world, with the goal of showing the best contemporary photography worldwide. There is a competition and a category for everyone, from Architecture, Documentary, Landscape, Portraiture, Sports, Street Photography, Wildlife, Travel, Culture and more.
The Sony World Photography Awards has 3 competitions:
[1] Professional:
- Recognizing outstanding bodies of work across 10 diverse categories
- Photographers must be above 18, must submit a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 images and all submissions must be accompanied by a series description
- Unpublished work entered into the competition must have been taken between the dates of January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018, or taken at any point in history but never been shown publicly
- Images should be no smaller than 1MB and no larger than 5MB in JPEG files
- Images must be saved in the RGB color model and EXIF data must be left in the image file
[2] Open:
- Rewarding the world’s best single images for all photographers across 10 diverse categories
- Images must be taken in 2018 and entries should be based on the categories outlined
- Images should be no smaller than 1MB and no larger than 5MB in JPEG files, and saved in the RGB color model
[3] Youth:
- Best single images by photographers aged 12-19
- Images must be taken in 2018 and entries should be based on the categories outlined
- Images should be no smaller than 1MB and no larger than 5MB in JPEG files, and saved in the RGB color model
Awards:
[1] Professional:
- Photographer of the Year: $25,000, Sony digital imaging equipment, and inclusion in the exhibition at Somerset House in London
- Category winners: Flights and accommodation to the awards ceremony in London, Sony digital imaging equipment, publication in the winners’ book
- Finalists: Publication in the winners’ book
- Shortlist: Digital exhibition in London
[2] Open:
- Open Photographer of the Year: $5,000, Sony digital imaging equipment, flights and accommodation to the awards ceremony
- Category winners: Sony digital imaging equipment, publication in the winners’ book
- Shortlist: Digital exhibition in London and publication in the winner’s book
[3] Youth:
- Youth Competition Winner: Flights and accommodation to the awards ceremony in London, Sony digital imaging equipment
- Shortlist: Digital exhibition in London and publication in the winners’ book
All successful photographers will also receive the opportunity to attend an exhibition in London in addition to be included in other international exhibitions. They will also be able to create professional relationships with partners from all over the world.
