Taipei City Government announces the Taipei International Design Award in the theme of “Design for Adaptive City”, as an on-going gesture to the world, particularly to those with a passion for creativeness and design, and for the vision of projecting the urban branding imagery of “Design Taipei; Dream Taipei’’. This is an open call for outstanding international designs and an effort to shape Taipei into a gathering platform for creative designs, thereby to discover creative designs with business potential, and further still, to encourage practices of social design in an advocacy that design as a medium can bring humans a better, more pleasant and convenient life. Taipei City Government has encouraged designers to contemplate on the meaning of design, to see design as a problem-solving tool, that is, to solve problems inevitably faced by the general public, the society or the city, and to further present Taipei International Design Award in the ethos of “Design for Adaptive City”.
This competition is open to everyone around the world, regardless of whether they are professional designers, students or non-designers, as they are welcomed to participate individually or as a group, where each group is limited to five members with one member as the main correspondent. Your entries must be original creations completed after June 30, 2016.
You can participate in one of the following three main categories:
[1] Industrial Design: Refers to design works that can be mass-produced, including general and digital application, transportation tools, equipment and instruments, daily utilities and household goods, IT and home appliances, etc.
[2] Visual Communication Design Visual communication includes designs of digital graphics creations, identity, posters, packaging and printing (including digital printing) etc.
[3] Public Space Design Open space provided for public use, government buildings and certain private establishments.
Awards:
Winners will receive cash prizes worth up to 20,000 Taiwan Dollar, and the total amount for cash prizes is 3.8 million Taiwan Dollar. Taipei City Government will process the payment within one month of the announcement of the jury's decision, although the receipt of payment may take up to two months. The names of all winners will be placed on the official website to allow businesses to contact them for future design projects. Award winners will be announced at the award ceremony and on the event’s website.
About Taipei City Government
Taipei City Government is the official organizer of this design competition. Taipei or Taipei City is the capital and a special municipality of Taiwan that is officially known as the Republic of China. The competition was known as Taipei Industrial Design Award between 2008 and 2011, but it was renamed in 2012 as Taipei International Design Award and has been so called since.
