The Falling Walls Fellowships for Journalists in Berlin 2018

The Falling Walls invites applications from journalists and bloggers interested in the Falling Walls Fellowship Program to advance their knowledge in the area of sciences. The Falling Walls gathering is a series of events including the Falling Walls Lab, Falling Walls Venture, the Falling Walls Conference as well as an additional program in Berlin around 8 and 9 November 2018. The annual gathering is inspired by the world changing event of the falling of Berlin wall on 9 November 1989.

After the opening ceremony, Falling Walls Venture showcases the most promising research based start- ups from all over the globe. 20 emerging companies pitch their breakthrough business models at a unique event that celebrates the vast entrepreneurial potential in science. the start-ups present their business models in just 5 minutes in front of a jury who awards the most promising concept. The winner gets the chance to present again on the grand stage of the Falling Walls Conference amongst Nobel laureates, and to an audience of 750 industry leaders, decision makers and international media representatives.

Falling Walls Conference

The Falling Walls Conference, to be held on November 9, gathers forward thinking individuals from 80 countries. The conference aims to identify trends, opportunities and solutions for global challenges, connect outstanding researchers from different disciplines and build bridges between business, politics, academia and the arts.

Eligibility criteria:

Applicants to the Falling Walls Fellowship programs can be freelance and full-time journalists or bloggers with at least three years of experience in which they have written about the subject of sciences. 

Applicants will gain

Selected participants will have the chance to to attend the Falling Walls series of event and the additional program in Berlin. The Fellowship covers travel expenses and hotel accommodation for 3 nights. In addition to the conference attendance fees and catering.
