Opportunity description
The Getty Images is known as a source of quality visual content they can use with confidence. They take pride in providing resources and information to build knowledge on issues which not only drive their business, but also impact everyone. They move hearts, minds and opinions, and they power commerce, ideas and perceptions. Their business affects individuals and society on many levels, as they stand for creative rights that help power creative careers, for freedom of the press and the protection of journalists, and for generosity that helps communities flourish.
The Getty Images’ dedication to excellence in photojournalism comes as a result for understanding that creating and managing in-depth photography assignments requires time, freedom, support and considerable resources. The Getty Images Reportage Grant continues the tradition of the Editorial Grants program, which started in 2004, to support independent photojournalists around the world by providing the creative freedom necessary to pursue work that is personally important to them.
Grants will be awarded by independent judges selected by Getty Images for their expertise and experience. Selection will be based on the judges’ determination of applicant’s ability to execute the submitted project with compelling a visual narrative in a documentary feature format, taking into account the caliber of portfolio, the project's merit and professional ability.
Three grants of $15,000 will be offered, the three winners will be announced in September. The winners will receive recognition in media coverage, and the option to have Getty Images' editorial guidance throughout their projects. All participant will retain copyrights to the images they submit for judges’ review.
