Opportunity description
The Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering welcomes submissions from engineers from around the globe for a chance to win 1 million euros. The Prize is organised by the Trustees of The Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering Foundation to reward individuals or teams of engineers whose work has had a major impact on humanity. The first Prize was presented by Her Majesty The Queen in spring 2013 at a ceremony in London, UK.
Eligibility requirements:
[1] nominees are individuals (or not more than five individuals working as a team)
[2] entry is open to nominees of any nationality
[3] nominees should be personally responsible for a ground-breaking innovation in engineering which has been of global benefit to humanity.
Entries will be judged by a distinguished, international panel of judges comprised of engineers and scientists representing the diversity of the profession. A selection of nominations will be short-listed by the Judging Panel for final consideration. The judges will use these criteria to select the winner of the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering:
[1] What is it that this person/team has done that is a ground-breaking innovation in engineering?
[2] In what way has this innovation been of global benefit to humanity?
[3] Is there anyone else who might claim to have had a pivotal role in this development?
By entering to be considered for the Prize, nominees commit to:
[1] The use of their name, image, reputation and the content of their nomination for those publicity purposes connected with the Prize.
[2] Taking a leading role in related activities if their nomination was selected to win the Prize (may include giving lectures and presentations)
[3] Continuing to support the Prize in subsequent years by any means that the Trustees may reasonably request
[4] Complying with the Trustees’ reasonable instructions in relation to such publicity activities from time to time
The winning nomination will be announced on a date set by the Trustees. Such date shall be published on the Prize website with a view to the winning nominee/s participating fully in all related activities.
The winners will be awarded:
[1] a total cash prize of 1 million euros.
[2] appropriate memorabilia to be decided by the Trustees in their sole discretion (the “Prize”).
