Opportunity description
Warren Wilson will award up to 25 full-tuition Milepost One scholarships to students with total family income levels equal to or below $125,000 per year. This means that even families who may not be eligible for federal or state need-based grants still have an opportunity to earn a full tuition scholarship – this includes eligibility for international and DACA students.
Requirements
To be eligible, students must:
- Be admitted to Warren Wilson College for the first-time, as a full-time undergraduate.
- Have a minimum 3.0 weighted high school GPA.
- Complete the application requirements by the deadline.
- Have a Total Family Income* equal to or less than $125,000.
- Live on campus and participate in the Warren Wilson Work Program.
- File a 2019-2020 FAFSA using their 2017 taxes and send to Warren Wilson College by February 1st, 2019 (school code: 002979).
- International Students must complete the CollegeBoard International Student Financial Aid Application.
- Students selected for FAFSA verification must complete verification requirements by February 1st, 2019.
- Be enrolled full time.
- Maintain consecutive enrollment.
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5.
The Milepost One Scholarship is guaranteed for four years. If students do not complete their degree in four years, they may appeal to extend their Milepost One Scholarship eligibility.
Note: For the purposes of Milepost One Scholarship eligibility, Total Family Income is defined by using the AGI (adjusted gross income) from 2017 federal tax returns (both student and parent), which is used on the student’s 2019-2020 FAFSA. Students who have a combined student and parent AGI equal to or less than $125,000 are eligible to apply.
Application Requirements:
Students will apply by submitting a two-minute (or less) video on the following topic:
"We know that there are people whose hard work and commitment have made it possible for you to be at the point in your life where you’re going to college. Share with us how these people (maybe your mom, dad, coach, grandparent, teacher, pastor, sibling, or friend) impacted you, and what it would mean to you and to them if you receive a full-tuition scholarship to Warren Wilson College."
Submissions do not need to be professional quality. Speak from the heart and share with us what it would mean to you to start your college journey at Milepost One.
