Opportunity description

UNESCO invites nominations of governmental and non-governmental entities, civil society actors and individuals for the UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize for Promotion of Tolerance and Nonviolence. The purpose of the prize is to award those that have made exceptional contributions and demonstrated leadership in the promotion of tolerance and non-violence. Tolerance recognizes the universal human rights and fundamental freedoms of others. People are naturally diverse; only tolerance can ensure the survival of mixed communities in every region of the globe.

The prize is awarded every two years, on the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance (16 November), the Prize is marked by a ceremony and the winner is presented with the sum of $100,000.
