Opportunity description
The Ubuntu Summit invites young leaders around the world to participate in the second Summit to be held online via Zoom to celebrate the United Nations International Day of Living Together in Peace. The Summit seeks to inspire and engage the participants in the great goals the United Nations outlined for the day by promoting peace, tolerance, inclusion, understanding, and solidarity.
About the Program:
- 193 youth teams from all the countries represented at the UN will participate.
- There will be simultaneous interpretations in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.
- Participants per country: 3 young people per country (18 to 35 years old), with a strong commitment to serving the common good of their communities.
- 5 seminars will be held every five hours on Sundays between October 24 and December 19 online.
Timeline:
- October 24, 2021: Leading like Mandela: Peace and reconciliation.
- November 17, 2021: Building Bridges: Intercultural and Interfaith dialogue.
- November 21, 2021: Overcoming Obstacles: Overcoming poverty and social exclusion.
- December 5, 2021: Ubuntu Lives: Human Rights
- December 19, 2021: I Have a Dream: Gender equality and Environmental protection.
Project Objectives:
With the goal of promoting reconciliation, building bridges, and promoting human dignity, the project has the following objectives:
- Empower young people as agents of transformation at the service of communities, promoting the integrated development of skills, with a focus on capacities for servant leadership;
- Promote dialogue between and within communities for the promotion of peace and construction of Justice, contributing to the development of more inclusive and resilient societies;
- Develop ethics of care, focused on empathy, attention, and responsibility.
