Opportunity description

The University of Canterbury is offering top-achieving international students the opportunity to apply for 25 scholarships in its undergraduate degree program for 2018-2019. The scholarship is tenable for up to a year, and it is available in the College of Business and Law, College of Arts, College of Education/Health and Human Development, College of Engineering, College of Science and general (any college).

Applicants must:

[1] Be full-fee-paying international students and may not be citizens of New Zealand or Australia, or holders of New Zealand residence class visas

[2] Be completing or have completed on or after January 1 of the year before the year of application, a university degree entrance-level qualification that permits entry into the university’s undergraduate degree program

[3] Have applied for admission to the university by August 15 in the year prior to their intended first year of enrolment at the university

The scholarship may not be held by students who:

[1] Have already undertaken partial study in an undergraduate degree program at a New Zealand tertiary institution

[2] Have applied for Transfer of Credit from a New Zealand tertiary institution to an undergraduate program at the University of Canterbury

Selection criteria:

[1] Quality of achievement in a program of study

[2] Evidence of leadership potential

[3] Involvement in cultural, sport or community activities

[4] Evidence of international experience, which may include travel, attendance at seminars, and other activities outside the applicant’s home country

Scholarship value:

The scholarship is currently awarded with values of $10,000, $15,000 or $20,000.
