VSO has announced it's needed for an Education Technology and Communication Specialist as a volunteer to work in various locations and countries.
About The Role:
The education technology specialist trains and supports teachers, education management and community members to respond to Education challenges in order to unlock the talent of every child. The ideal candidate should have excellent teacher trainer skills, experience with education management, the ability to support teachers and learners in the use of technology and communication in improving children’s learning through digital education technology (DET).
Responsibilities:
- Train and support teachers and PEAs in the use of tablets and software for literacy and numeracy.
- Assist teachers in troubleshooting technical issues with hardware and software.
- Focus on the progress of learners and help teachers to identify common areas of difficulty, as well as individual learner needs.
- Assist teachers and PEAs find solutions to challenges to learning.
- Contribute to the development of strategies for the integration of DET in schools and districts.
- Participate in the development of a training module for use by TTC lecturers in training pre-service teachers.
- Assist communities to take ownership of their learning center.

Skills And Knowledge:
Essential:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
- Strong experience in training and coaching primary school teachers(secondary also acceptable).
- Knowledge and experience in teaching early grade literacy and numeracy.
- Experience in providing educational leadership and integrating innovative approaches to improve learning outcomes.
- Competent in the use of technology, including tablets and smartphones.
- Self-starter, able to build relationships and determine own work plan.
- The applicant will be required to bring his own laptop and smartphone as VSO is unable to provide these for this project.
Desirable:
- Experience and interest in the use of digital education technology.
- Experience in a capacity building role in a government institution.
- Experience in developing training modules.
- Experience in training of trainers(teacher trainers and primary education advisors/inspectors).
- 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Experience working in developing countries.
