Opportunity description
Since its inception in 2001, the Washington Award has recognized talented artists in the fields of, music, dance, and visual arts especially those who contribute to international cultural collaboration.
This year the S&R Foundation is excited to announce the amount of the Washington Award will be increased to a cash prize of $10,000. In addition, the Awards Committee may designate a Grand Prize winner who will receive an additional $5,000. Award winners are honored annually in the spring at the Washington Awards Ceremony.
Applicants must:
[1] Be at least 18 years of age.
[2] bBe working in music, dance, or visual arts including painting, photography, sculpture or interdisciplinary arts.
[3] Not be enrolled either part-time, full-time, or finishing work in a degree-granting program.
[4] Not have received an advanced level of recognition in his or her artistic discipline.
[5] Include two references from recognized authorities or professionals in the applicant’s discipline. These references will be contacted if applicants reach the top ten.
When applying for the award, the following documents must be submitted:
[1] A completed application form.
[2] The applicant’s biography, CV and photograph.
[3] A sample photograph, recording, or video tape of the applicant’s work.
[4] The name, phone number, and email address of two recognized authorities or professionals in the applicant’s discipline.
[5] The required essay.
