Climate Tracker is offering competition in Writing to Journalists from north Africa. They are looking for young journalists from across Africa who want to write incredible stories about the energy challenges in their home country. 6 amazing African journalists will be sending to cover the Sustainable Energy for All Forum in Rwanda, this May (26th-28th).
Awards:
The 6 fellows will receive a fully funded fellowship to travel to Kigali for the event
The Story:
Write and publish a story focusing on any of the following themes:
- Energy access
- Clean energy cooking
- Right to the energy transition
- Ensuring everyone benefits from sustainable energy access
- Sustainable energy and climate change
Dates:
Important dates to remember:
- March 18th: Submit your article link to the Climate Tracker App by midnight (GMT+3) on March 18th, 2020
- March 30th: Shortlisted applicants will then be sent a new link to submit their investigative story pitches by March 30th
- April 10th- Our campaign final selections announced
The selection process:
- You need to prepare and publish a great story on energy access, clean cooking or sustainable energy policy (as listed above).
- Make sure to publish that story well before early March in a national or international media outlet (online or in print).
- For those who are shortlisted, they’ll then need to prepare their pitch for their investigative story opportunity (after the forum in May).
- We will be asking all shortlisted applicants to submit their pitch for their investigative story opportunity.

Climate Tracker specializes in connecting with great young journalists all over the world. In 2017, it ran 18 different media campaigns, that varied from global to national level topics. These amazing writers published over 2000 articles in national media across more than 100 countries. All journalists involved are given full journalistic freedom, and as we encourage them to publish in national publications; their editors also play a role in quality control.
