Opportunity description

The Tashkeel platform announces a workshop in the field of Arabic calligraphy using the risograph printer in the United Arab Emirates.

Benefits

  • In this opportunity, you will join artist, painter, and calligrapher Ibrahim Khamaysa in a workshop using Arabic calligraphy with the Riso ME-9350E rhizograph printer. This is an environmentally friendly printer that uses soybean oil-based ink for high-speed, large-scale artwork copying. Risograph printing is very popular among painters, photographers, and artists around the world because of its low cost and many options and advantages.
  • The three-hour session will begin with the trainer explaining the different types of Arabic calligraphy, their origins, and styles, with a special focus on the square Kufic script.
  • Participants will choose a selection of letters, experiment with proportions and scale, and learn to connect these letters to create beautiful shapes, sizes, and variations. These works will then move to experimentation using a risograph printer, which converts linear artwork into two-color printing.
  • Participants will learn how to prepare their work on a risograph printer and how to layer colors.
  • Participants will develop their calligraphy works by observing the colors and internal and external textures of letters and arranging a visual composition that allows for experimentation with color and line.
  • At the end of this workshop, participants will have a completed artwork, as well as a detailed understanding of producing artwork using a risograph printer, integrating and developing this process into their own artistic practice.

Eligibility criteria

  • This workshop will be held from 6 pm to 9 pm on January 24, 2024.
  • There are only 14 places left in this workshop.
  • This opportunity will be held at Alserkal Avenue - Warehouse 89.
  • The registration fee for this workshop is 325 AED (+ VAT).
  • The amount paid will be non-refundable again.
