Opportunity description

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Malawi is seeking 3 Online Volunteers to provide Animation Design & Motion Graphics Support. For a duration of 12 weeks (11-15 hours per week), volunteers will create short explainer animations, motion graphic videos, and multimedia content to visualize development work on governance, resilience, youth empowerment, and climate action.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Create short animated videos (1–4 minutes) for social media, public outreach, and presentations.

  • Develop motion graphics, transitions, icon animations, and visual storytelling elements aligned with UNDP branding.

  • Add subtitles, sound effects, background music, and sync simple voiceovers.

  • Work collaboratively with programme teams to conceptualize scripts, storyboards, and visual sequences.

  • Review and enhance existing video content to improve visual flow, clarity, and narrative cohesion.

  • Submit final animations in MP4 format along with all editable project/source files.

Eligibility criteria

  • Professional experience in animation design, motion graphics, or video editing.

  • Proficiency in animation and design tools (Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, Media Encoder).

  • Fluent in English (Required); working knowledge of Chichewa is an asset (Desirable).

  • Strong understanding of visual storytelling, pacing, transitions, and motion design principles.

  • Ability to understand briefs, translate complex ideas into visuals, and incorporate feedback.

  • No formal degree is required, though a background in animation, digital media, or graphic design is considered an asset.
