Opportunity description

Atlantic Fellows invites mid-career change-makers from around the world to a funded fellowship; Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity. It brings policymakers, activists, researchers, and movement-builders to the London School of Economics and Political Science, where they will work across disciplines and borders to understand and address the root causes of inequality. The fellowship program offers 18 opportunities over two tracks: Residential and Non-Residential.

Benefits

If you are among the residential fellows, you will receive:

  • Full tuition fees.
  • A £19,000 stipend to cover living costs.
  • Any necessary travel expenses.
  • Travel to and from London, including reimbursement of visa fees.
  • Modest financial support is available for Fellows who have family care responsibilities. 
  • The opportunity to support from:
  • A dedicated LSE academic mentor.
  • The AFSEE Executive Director through monthly meetings.

If you are among the Non-residential fellows, you will receive:

  • Full tuition fees.
  • A £10,000 grant to support Fellows’ project work.
  • Any necessary travel expenses.
  • Accommodation and related costs.
  • Reimbursement of visa fees.
  • Modest financial support is available for Fellows who have family care responsibilities. 

Eligibility criteria

You must follow the following criteria:

  • Applicants should have achieved a 2:1 undergraduate degree or equivalent in any discipline.
  • A background in social science and/or work experience in the social policy field is advantageous but not essential.
  • Applicants must have seven to ten years of experience demonstrating courage, care, leadership, and commitment in advancing equitable solutions to inequality.
  • You have passed a recognized English language test at an appropriate level.
  • For Residential Fellows:
  • Applicants must qualify for admission to the London School of Economics’ MSc in Inequalities and Social Science.

Note: Applicants who have attained a PhD, who have completed an MSc within the past three years, or who are currently studying for a degree, will not normally be considered for the Residential track.

Selection Criteria:

You will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Deep commitment to social change, backed by seven to ten years of substantive real-world experience. 
  • Innovative ideas.
  • Readiness to evolve and develop. 
  • Commitment, readiness, and interest in learning from and engaging with different perspectives. 
  • Openness to fully engaging with the whole Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity learning journey.
  • Willingness to actively contribute to a sustained peer-led, values-driven community.
  • Commitment to work with and support others in achieving individual and collective impact.
