Art Residency and Environmental Art Exhibition in Lithuania 2026

“River and Land Art” is a small-scale outdoor art event. The call is open to all artists specializing in environmental art or land/place-based art to develop and install artworks in public spaces along a river in the city of Kaunas, Lithuania. This program is known for providing extensive funding to support artists and help them gain international recognition.

Funding and Financial Benefits

• A fee of €900 (including taxes) for a two-week residency in Kaunas and the creation of a land/environmental artwork.

• Coverage of travel expenses from the artist’s hometown to Kaunas and back (up to €400), in addition to accommodation in Kaunas for up to 14 days.

Admission Requirements and Eligibility

• Applicants must have prior artistic experience and the skills necessary to engage with the public.

• The completed artwork must be presented on 23 May 2026 during the event “Let’s Celebrate the River!” Artists are expected to personally present their works (including the concept, form, and techniques used) to event visitors. Duration: up to 4 hours.

• The artwork must be created using natural materials available on site, in public urban spaces, while respecting local biodiversity and living trees (attaching to trees is not allowed).

• The artwork must be weather-resistant and pose no risk to the public.

Application Steps

• A short CV and portfolio (including samples of your work in a suitable file format).

• A brief description of the proposed artwork (maximum two A4 pages).

• A list of materials to be used and their technical requirements.

• A copy of an ID card or passport (scanned).
