Volunteer from the UN Volunteers: Aviation Budget Assistant at United Nations Mission in South Sudan

UN Volunteer offers a volunteer opportunity and announces its need the efforts of 2 volunteer from who have transport, procurement and contracting, economics and finance expertise. The volunteer program will conduct in South Sudan and is expected start on 11/07/2023 for 12 months (with possibility of extension).

You will undertake the following tasks:

• Review, analyze and assist in the preparation of the cost estimates and budget proposals, in terms of staff and non-staff, (flight hours, equipment) requirements for the section / office, including other aspects.
• Prepare the acquisition plan (AP) for the section for submission to acquisition and requisition section. 
• Processing documents related to Aircrew daily subsistence allowance claims and invoices reimbursements, in addition to verifying, recording and submission of these claims to Finance section for payment.
• Prepare costing for special flight requests and non-revenue flights for cost recovery and prepare inter-mission billing for flights.
• Provide support in the management of UNMISS Air assets.
• Verification of data input into the various databases to ensure consistency of the data in previous allotments to new allotments issued.
• Coordinate the provision of guidance, training and daily supervision to other staff within the Aviation Budget Unit.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief of Technical Compliance Unit.
• Furthermore, you are required to:
• Strengthen your knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities.
• Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country.
• Promote capacity development activities and transfer of skills to national personnel during the assignment.

You must have:

• Secondary education level.
• 3 years of experience in the field of Finance and Accounting.
• Proficient in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint and etc.).
• Experience preparing and submitting budget proposals using applicable databases.
• Well versed in budgeting and financial records keeping procedures.
• Certificate in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint and etc.).
• Strong computer skills, including the development of spreadsheets and reports using graphs and charts.
• Working experience in the UN field Missions.
• Valid driving license for cars with manual transmission.
• Fluent in English.
• Arabic, Level: Working knowledge.
• Adaptability and flexibility.
• Creativity and decision-making.
• Planning and organising and self-management.

Please note: Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment.
