Opportunity description
UNV offers a volunteer opportunityas an aviation training officer in Juba for a period of 6 months starting from 15/01/2024 with the possibility of an extension. You will be responsible for all aviation training duties and report to the Chief Aviation Officer in Juba through the Chief Airfield Terminal Unit.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Coordinate with IATA and ICAO training institutions for selected courses that meet UNMISS Aviation training needs.
- Conduct training need analysis to select specific ICAO/IATA courses that address performance gaps.\Prepare, coordinate, and consolidate the annual training budget in consultation with Quality Assurance and Budget unit.
- Building capacity of national staff in the Aviation Section units through targeted selection for annual training.
- Work closely with IMTC (Mission Training Centre), Procurement Section, and Acquisition and Requisition unit for procurement of approved courses in the budget.
- Demonstrate creativity ensuring that approved training budgets are pivoted on the best value for money.
- Monitoring, evaluating, and providing feedback to training centers and recommending improved methods that will enhance future training.
- Reporting on team and individual accomplishments, challenges, and progress of Training programs.
- Taking lead in developing and upgrading the Aviation Section training materials.
Demonstrate creativity in ensuring that approved training budgets are pivoted on the best value for money. - Provide administrative guidance to selected nominated staff nominated for training.
- Develop on on-site programs to address any weaknesses.
- Report periodically on team and individual accomplishments, challenges, and progress of training programs.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by QASU, the Chief Air Terminal.
- Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.
- Promote capacity development activities and transfer of skills to national personnel during the assignment.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Technical/vocational diploma in training and development, management, or public administration is required. A minimum High School Diploma.
- 3 years of experience in the design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs.
- Solid Computer skills, including full proficiency in various MS office applications (Excel, word, etc).
- Experience in “training gap Analysis”.
- Experience in the design and practical delivery of formal training sessions and programs.
- Military experience in training.
- Training in Human resource management and development.
- Experience in training large audiences.
- Fluent in English.
- Arabic, Level: Working knowledge.
- Driving license/Manual transmission.
Please note: Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment and aged 27 - 80.
