Opportunity description

Volume Zero invites each one of you to participate in the 22nd edition of its architectural competitions and the 4th edition of Tiny House Architecture Competition. This year’s Tiny House aims to celebrate individuality, reimagine sustainability, and to exalt simple, innovative yet resourceful living. In this competition, you are required to design a Tiny House for 2 people that would provide a comfortable living space and should be innovative and creative with a sustainable edge. Just submit your design and you will have a chance to win prizes valued at USD 4000.

  • 1st Prize: USD 2000 + Certificates + Publication
  • 2nd Prize: USD 1200 + Certificates+ Publication
  • 3rd Prize: USD 800 + Certificates+ Publication
  • Student Award: USD 500 + Certificates+ Publication
  • 10 Honourable mentions: Certificates
  • Winners and Honourable Mentions will be published on the Volume Zero Competitions website and in several international architecture and design magazines.
  • In addition, all the participants would receive a participation certificate.

Eligibility criteria

You should follow the following criteria:

  • This Competition is open to all, it invites architects, students, engineers, product designers, thinkers, companies, organizations and everyone interested in the mission of the competition to submit their ideas.
  • No professional qualifications are necessary.
  • Participants are to design a Tiny House for 2 people that would provide a comfortable living space. The design of the Tiny House should be innovative and creative with a sustainable edge.
  • Relation between the exterior surroundings and the interior spaces must be taken into consideration in cases of both fixed and changeable sites.
  • The Interior Spaces should include the following:
    • Living Area
    • Toilet space
    • Sleeping Area for 2
    • Workspace
    • Cooking and Dining Area
    • Recreational spaces
  • Any other function that the participant wishes to add to the habitat.
  • You can choose a site according to your design proposals.
  • The location can be either an urban or a rural area anywhere across the world.
  • Participants should assume their client to be an individual, a couple, two separate individuals, or multiple genres of individuals based on the design concept.
  • Keep in mind that a good designer would anticipate not just the needs of the users but also the needs of the future of the users.

Please note:

  • Participation fees are USD 82.6 (per team).
  • However, these fees are different according to the time of registration.
  • Announcement of winners: 22nd March 2024.
