The Cheshire Prize for Literature 2025/26 is now accepting entries.
Submission Guidelines:
- The competition is open to people of all ages in three categories:
- Primary (ages 4-11): poetry or short story category
- Secondary (ages 11-18): poetry or short story category
- Over 18: poetry, short story, flash fiction, children’s literature, scriptwriting
- There is no required theme; writers are free to write about anything that inspires them.
- Participants can submit up to two entries per person, but these must be in different categories.
- The judging panel is chaired by Dr. Harry Parkin from the School of Creative Industries at the University of Chester.
- Entry is free of charge.
- Prizes:
- Winners in the 4-17 categories will receive a book token.
- Winners in the over 18 category will receive a cash prize.
- Deadline: January 31, 2026
