Opportunity description

UNICEF is seeking a National UN Volunteer to join the PROSPECTS Partnership Programme in Kassala, Sudan. This role focuses on improving protection, learning, and livelihood opportunities for refugees, migrants, IDPs, and host communities. As a Child Protection Associate, you will support monitoring activities, youth engagement initiatives, and the documentation of success stories within a complex humanitarian context. This is a fully funded national volunteer position (no fees required) aimed at empowering "Youth on the Move."

Duties & responsibilities

  • Participate in and strengthen child protection and youth engagement activities within PROSPECTS initiatives.

  • Support field monitoring visits in Kassala and White Nile to document progress and challenges.

  • Collect qualitative and quantitative data from partners and community members for evidence-based reporting.

  • Develop human-interest stories, case studies, and visual content for social media using innovative approaches.

  • Share field insights and personal experiences of displacement in workshops and learning sessions.

  • Liaise with local authorities and community structures to ensure program effectiveness.

Eligibility criteria

  • Must be a national, legal resident, or hold refugee status in Sudan.
  • Age between 18-80 (Priority given to ages 20-32).

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience (1 month minimum required by UNV criteria).

  • Secondary education degree is required.

  • Fluent in English; basic Arabic is a plus.

  • Experience in communication, community development, or social work.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and digital communication.
