International Volunteer HQ announces a volunteer childcare project in South Africa - Cape Town. You must be full of energy and willing to be a childcare volunteer in South Africa. The International Volunteer HQ's Childcare project is a great opportunity for volunteers to support early childhood education in low-income areas of Cape Town. Volunteers will gain childcare experience while helping local teachers at a large childcare center provide high-quality care and education to children from neighboring farms, villages, and communities.
Duties & responsibilities
- You will help make it easier for low-income families to give their children this important opportunity for a good start in life by assisting in a large childcare center that works closely with the local education department and aims to provide high-quality care and education to children from disadvantaged areas.
- You will play a dynamic role in enriching the lives of these children and assist with a wide range of tasks within the center. This can include:
- Teaching
- Caring for children
- Planning and designing lessons
- Arranging games and activities
- Helping with general duties to assist with the day-to-day running of the center.
- When you volunteer with children in South Africa you’ll be adding value to the local community, while also developing personally and professionally by:
- Improving early childhood education for disadvantaged families.
- Helping children learn and grow in a safe place.
- Developing your communication skills.
- Gaining childcare experience.
- Immersing yourself in South African culture.
- Exploring South Africa’s incredible wildlife.
Eligibility criteria
- Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to participate in this program and may be asked to provide additional documentation to the local team.
- All volunteers aged 13+ are required to provide a criminal background check to IVHQ prior to departure. Those aged 13-17, if unable to obtain a criminal background check, can provide two character reference letters instead.
- All volunteers are required to have adequate volunteer travel insurance.
- All volunteers must speak fluent English.
