Swansea University is pleased to launch a research project entitled; Intelligent Assessment of Functional Construction Materials, and a unique chance for a fully funded PhD scholarship in Civil Engineering major. This research project will develop new digital testing methods for functional constructional materials with an aim to bring a step-change to product assessment and certification, thereby benefiting the whole construction industry. This project takes an innovative approach by bringing modeling, data, and AI technologies into product assessment.

- Cover the full cost of UK tuition fees.
- An annual stipend at the UKRI rate (currently £17,668 for 2022/23) for four years.

Eligibility criteria
You should follow the following criteria:
- Candidates must normally hold an undergraduate degree at 2.1 level (or Non-UK equivalent) in Engineering or a similar relevant science discipline.
- You are expected to have good knowledge in Engineering (material and mechanics) and Mathematics (analysis and numerical modeling).
- Be passionate about learning and developing new testing and modeling technologies in the context of real-world problems.
- English Language Requirements: If applicable – IELTS 6.5 overall (with at least 5.5 in each individual component) or Swansea recognized equivalent.
- Mode of study: Full-time.
- Due to funding restrictions, this scholarship is open to applicants eligible to pay tuition fees at the UK rate only.
