As, Community Connector Programs aim to connect community-dwelling older adults in need of support with local services, groups, and communities based on identified needs and personal goals.</div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>

<div><div class="benefits"><div><div class="benefits"><div><div class="benefits"><div><p>As a volunteer in this role, you will:</p><ul><li class="benefits">Conduct participant visits and provide support.</li><li class="benefits">Visit paired participant(s) within the community to administer non-invasive surveys and questionnaires and follow up accordingly.</li><li class="benefits">Engage the participant(s) in conversations that may highlight any challenges or issues in their life.</li><li class="benefits">Assist participant(s) in personal goal identification.</li><li class="benefits">Link participant(s) with volunteer organizations or community-based organizations, either by phone, email, or through the e-referral platform.</li><li class="benefits">Utilize a tablet computer and other technology to provide information to partner organizations and/or record visit information and notes.</li><li class="benefits">Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community programs and services and acts as a resource in the community.</li><li class="benefits">Assist in accompanying participant(s) to resources/services, as needed.</li><li class="benefits">Promote local community events, programs, services, and activities to the participant(s) and encourage their participation.</li><li class="benefits">Document and report<ul><li>Report any concerns for the paired participant(s) to the immediate attention of the coordinator.</li><li class="benefits">Complete visit logs for documentation and reporting purposes.</li><li class="benefits">Record assessment results accurately using a mobile computer tablet.</li><li class="benefits">Participate in regular Community Connector meetings to share best practices, troubleshoot, and participate in continued learning.</li><li class="benefits">Submit status update reports to the coordinator.</li></ul></li><li>Adhere to program and organization policies and procedures:<ul><li class="benefits">Participate and promote the completion of mandatory program training.</li><li class="benefits">Aware of and adhere to policies and procedures related to health, safety, and quality matters to ensure volunteer and participant safety.</li><li class="benefits">Ensure all concerns or incidents are promptly and accurately reported to the coordinator.</li></ul></li><li>Facilitate community sessions (optional)<ul><li class="benefits">Organize community-based recreation/informational sessions for participating older adults.</li></ul></li><li class="benefits">Support other Red Cross initiatives, as needed, to provide for a coordinated team effort to meeting the needs of the community.&nbsp;</li></ul><h2 class="benefits">Browse more jobs in <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/country/Canada">Canada</a> on For9a.</h2></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>

<div><div class="qualifications"><div><div class="qualifications"><div class="qualifications"><p>You must have:</p><ul><li>Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.</li><li>Fluency in written and spoken English.</li><li>Knowledge about and involved in your community or a desire to become involved or learn more.</li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.</li><li>Ability to work within a team.</li><li>Access to a telephone, email, and internet.</li><li>Considered an asset but not required:<ul><li>Current or previous Canadian Red Cross Instructional training including but not limited to Youth Leader, Respect Education Facilitators, Water Safety Instructor, First Aid Instructor, etc.</li><li>Experience working with older adults.</li><li>Fluency in other languages such as French.</li></ul></li></ul><p>Please note:</p><ul><li>To succeed in this role, all volunteers will be asked to complete a learning path.</li><li>This training, including First Aid and CPR, will be offered to you free of charge by the CRC.</li><li>Online and face-to-face training will be available in a fun, interactive way.</li><li>Minimum volunteer hours /period: 6 months commitment.</li><li>Time spent engaging in activities will vary by a volunteer&rsquo;s interest and availability with the minimum requirement being 6 hours per month.</li></ul><h3>About the Canadian Red Cross:</h3><p>The Canadian Red Cross mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world.
