Competition: The Innovating Justice Challenge 2021 and the chance to Win USD 24.000 from Hiil

Hiil invites participants from all over the world to a competition entitled; The Innovating Justice Challenge 2021. It gives the opportunity to all startups that are transforming the justice sector to become part of the 2021 Accelerator cohort. Since 2011, it has successfully funded, trained, and scaled over 120 startups globally.  It is looking for impact startups focused on tackling justice issues that ensure everyone’s access to justice at work, at home, in their neighborhoods, and in business.

If you win, HiiL’s Justice Accelerator will offer you a 4-month long program that provides you with:

• USD 12,000 non-equity seed funding.
• Full training program delivered by industry specialists: business growth, marketing, team & leadership, impact measurement, and much more.
• Coaching sessions and mentorship on topics of your choice.
• Access to HiiL’s global network of justice leaders, legal tech organizations, and top-level researchers.
• International exposure and potential investment opportunities.
• Chance to win up to USD 24.000 at the pitch event of the Innovating Justice Forum.

You must have:

1. a service that prevents or resolves a clear local justice problem.
2. proven customer demand, demonstrate increasing revenue and impact.
3. a scalable business model and the potential to become financially sustainable.
4. be led by a dedicated team with experienced founders.
5. Both for-profit and non-profit startups can apply.

What is the competition looking for?

It is looking for justice startups that empower people through innovations to create better:

• working conditions with their employer
• separation terms with their spouse
• protection against theft, fraud, and violence
• arrangements about noise, damages, and property access with their neighbor 
• housing maintenance and rent conditions with their landlord
• agreements on ownership, registration, and use of land
• contracts, fraud protection, and compliance for their small business.

Please note:

• The shortlisted for interviews will have their interviews online between June 14, 2021, and June 24, 2021.
• Following the interviews, the shortlisted applicants will participate in Bootcamp training between July 5, 2021, and July 9, 2021.
• Selected participants will be informed by July 20, 2021, about their selection.
