Swansea University offers a fully funded PhD scholarship in the field of artificial intelligence, and image analysis within a research project; AI-Based Crop Detection Using Spectral Remote Sensing Images. The availability of free satellite images in medium/high spatial resolution has enabled possible solutions for the challenging dynamic land use and land cover mapping problems. This project is about developing new AI techniques for crop detection and mapping.

Eligibility criteria
You must follow the following criteria:
- Candidates must normally hold an undergraduate degree at 2.1 level plus a recognized master's degree with Merit (or Non-UK equivalent) in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Individuals with experience in basic knowledge of AI, machine learning, and image analysis.
- English Language Requirements: If applicable – IELTS 6.5 overall (with at least 6.0 in each individual component) or Swansea recognized equivalent.
- Mode of study is full-time.
- Due to funding restrictions, this scholarship is open to applicants eligible to pay tuition fees at the UK rate only.
