Partially Funded Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunities at the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS CEU)

The Institute for Advanced Study at CEU (IAS CEU) is pleased to invite applications for its core junior and senior fellowship programs for the academic year 2022/23. Fellowships are available in all research areas of the social sciences and humanities, broadly defined. Each year, the Budapest Campus provides 15 fellows a stimulating environment in which fellows can devote themselves to research. They are expected to reside in Budapest during their fellowship year, participate in the intellectual life of the Institute and pursue their research agenda.

If you get one of these fellowships, you will have:

• CEU’s vibrant international atmosphere.
• Accommodation in the Raoul
• Senior fellows:
• a net monthly stipend of 2,600 Euros.
• Junior fellows: 
• a net monthly stipend of 1,500 Euros.

Please note: You will responsible for your own travel and health care provisions.

You must have:

• A Ph.D. or equivalent in the social sciences or humanities at the time of their application.
• Publications in internationally recognized scholarly outlets. 
• A Ph.D. degree was issued not before 2014 later for Junior fellows. 
• A Ph.D. before 2014 for Senior fellows.
• Full-time CEU employees and students are not eligible to apply for 5 years after the ending of their studies/contract. 
• Part-time/temporary employees of CEU are not eligible for 1 year after their contract ended.
• Former fellows of IAS CEU are not eligible to apply again for a period of 7years. 
• Reapplication is possible only 3 times within a period of 5 years.

 Fellowships Timeline:

Fellowships run for the full 9-month period (October-June):

• Shortfall semester (October-December): 3-month.
• Long fall semester (October-February): 5-months.
• Spring semester (January-June): 6-month.

Established in 2011, IAS CEU continues the intellectual tradition of the former Institute for Advanced Study, the Collegium Budapest. The purpose of the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS CEU) at Central European University is to promote the free and independent pursuit of pioneering scholarly research in the context of an interdisciplinary intellectual community with the expectation of publication or other forms of dissemination of research results. It brings together scholars from all over the world who work mainly in the fields of the social sciences, humanities, law, and art but would not necessarily be restricted to these domains of academic research.
