Opportunity description

The 41st edition of the “Autumn in Voronet” International Film Festival is now available for all filmmakers all over the world. The festival takes place in the European town of Gura Humorului, Romania, between the 6th – the 10th of October, 2021.

About the Festival:-

  • “Autumn in Voronet” International Film Festival is, first of all, a competition, an event meant to promote documentary films, student films, video production, and the culture of audio-visual communication.
  • The Festival aims to foster the creativity of film schools, competence, and professionalism in the field and encourage networking among different generations of filmmakers, thus stimulating young filmmakers.
  • The Festival organizers are Gura Humorului Town Hall, Suceava County Council, and Bucovina Cultural Center, with the support of the Romanian Filmmakers’ Union.

Festival Categories:-

  • Documentary films.
  • short and medium-length films (maximum 40 minutes).
  • Student films.
  • Short and medium-length films (documentary, fiction, experimental, etc.; maximum 40 minutes).
  • Travel films.
  • Short and medium-length films (maximum 40 minutes).
  • Digital diaporamas.
  • maximum 5 minutes.

The Festival’s program includes four official competitive sections:

  • Documentary film section.
  • Best documentary award – 2,500 RON (approx. 507 EUR).
  • Best director award – 1,000 RON (approx. 203 EUR).
  • Best cinematography award – 1,000 RON (approx. 203 EUR).
  • Student film section.
  • Best student film award – 2.500 RON (approx. 507 EUR).
  • Best director award – 1,000 RON (approx. 203 EUR).
  • Best cinematography award – 1,000 RON (approx. 203 EUR).
  • Travel film section.
  • Best travel film award – 2.500 RON (approx. 507 EUR).
  • Digital diaporama section.
  • Best digital diaporama award – 2.500 RON (approx. 507 EUR).

Eligibility criteria

  • The Festival is open to all filmmakers, film producers, and film distributors. For the student film section, participants don’t need to pursue specializations in the field of film, they can be students in any discipline.
  • Festival submissions do not have to adhere to specific themes.
  • The films submitted to the first three sections must be no longer than 40 minutes, while those submitted to the digital diaporama section must be no longer than 5 minutes.
  • Film production must have ended after the 1st of January, 2020, for the film to be accepted by the Festival.
  • Each participant can submit 1 or 2 film productions, for which they will submit separate entry forms.
  • Romanian or English subtitling is required for foreign films, while the Romanian ones must be subtitled in English.
  • The films submitted to the Festival will become part of the Festival’s archive and will not be returned. The organizers are entitled to use them for promotional, didactic, educational, and cultural purposes. The films will not be used for commercial purposes by the Festival’s organizers.
