Opportunity description

Friction is holding a writing contest open to entrants worldwide, for writers over the age of thirteen. There is no set theme, and work must be in English, previously unpublished, and not previously submitted to Friction.

Categories:

  • Short Story (Word count is 1,001 – 7,500 words; $15 per entry)
  • Poetry (Up to three poems of three pages each; $10 per single entry or $12 for three entries)
  • Flash Fiction (Word count can be up to 1,000 and participants can submit up to three pieces; $10 per single entry or $12 for three entries)

Prizes:

  • Short Story: $1000
  • Poetry: $300
  • Flash Fiction: $300

Deadline: November 1, 2024.

Winners will be announced April 18, 2025.
