Opportunity description
Swansea University offers EPSRC and KLA Scholarships for Ph.D. students in the field of Electronic and Electrical Engineering in the UK. The project will work alongside a leading semiconductor industry partner, which brings together some of the world's leaders in semiconductors and power conversions to develop solutions for automotive, aerospace, and industrial power electronics. This scholarship aims to develop the UK's energy infrastructure and transition to a low-carbon economy. It also predicts that other forms of renewable energy such as tidal and solar energy could also play an effective role alongside traditional coal-fired power plants and nuclear power generation. This project aims to understand the fundamental performance limit of Ga2O3 power devices through finite element modeling (electrical and thermal) and fabrication of devices targeting both power electronics and photovoltaics.
Benefits
- This scholarship covers the full cost of tuition fees and an annual stipend at the UKRI rate (currently £17,668 for 2022/23).
