Scholarship Overview
The ASEAN-China Young Leaders Scholarship for the academic year 2026/2027 offers fully funded master's and PhD programs. Funded by the Chinese government, this scholarship aims to strengthen ASEAN-China cooperation through academic exchange and leadership development.
The ASEAN-China Young Leaders Scholarship (ACYLS) aims to:
Strengthen the relationship between ASEAN countries and China through educational exchange.
Develop future leaders with academic skills, cross-cultural understanding, and professional experience.
Available Fields of Study
The scholarship supports fields that promote regional cooperation and sustainable development.
The scholarship is open to applicants in these categories:
- Master’s degree students
- Doctoral degree students
- Short-term research fellows / researchers
The scholarship offers 12 slots in total:
• 5 for doctorate
• 5 for master’s
• 2 for short-term research programs

• This is a fully-funded scholarship for study and/or research in China.
• Applicants should check specific rules and procedures of the Chinese university they plan to attend.
Benefits
- The scholarship covers the following for the entire study or research period in China:
- Monthly stipend (living allowance)

- Medical insurance
- Settlement fee
Note: You must submit an annual progress report for continued scholarship payments.
Eligibility criteria
- Be a citizen of an ASEAN country
- Be physically and mentally healthy
- Have proficient English (IELTS ≥ 6.0 or TOEFL ≥ 80)
- Hold an undergraduate or graduate degree
- Be not older than 45 years if applying for a Master’s or Doctoral degree
- Have at least 1 year of work experience, preferably in areas related to ASEAN-China cooperation
- Not currently receive another Chinese government scholarship
- Meet the university admission requirements of the Chinese institution they apply to
