Swansea University announces a Fully Funded PhD Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering in the UK. The objectives of the grant project will be summarized as follows:
- Perform basic research into human processes for assembling and disassembling oddly shaped objects using hands and arms.
- Use the knowledge obtained in the achievement of objective 1, in order to plan, test, and learn to come up with adaptive strategies related to the example assembly and disassembly.
- Use the UR3E/UR5E robots and DLR-HIT II robot hands available in the Robotics Lab to build the infrastructure needed to implement the strategies developed in objective (2) in handling complex assembly and disassembly tasks.
Benefits
- This scholarship will cover full UK tuition fees and an annual stipend of £18,622.
- Some additional research expenses will also be provided.

Eligibility criteria
- You can study full or part-time on this scholarship.
- You must have a 2.1-level undergraduate degree in Engineering or a similar discipline.
- This scholarship is available to eligible applicants paying tuition fees at the UK rate only, as defined by UK regulations.
