The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) supports higher education in climate studies for Least Developed Countries (LDCs). Sustainable development is the main focus, and adaptation strategies are crucial.

This program aims to assist the most vulnerable nations whose industries minimally contribute to global pollution, placing them amidst climate challenges.

Eligibility criteria

  • Be a postdoctoral researcher from a Sub-Saharan African country.

  • Not be residing or working in Germany currently, and not have previously received a TWAS‑DFG Visiting Award.
  • Submit a collaboration plan with a research institution in Germany, including a clear invitation letter, the duration of the visit, and research objectives.
  • Proficiency in English is required, with knowledge of Arabic preferred.
  • Ability to conduct independent research and demonstrate leadership skills.
