Opportunity description

The Rosa Luxemburg Foundation offers scholarships for international students and doctoral candidates who wish to study or conduct research in Germany. The scholarship targets students and researchers with outstanding academic performance and clear social or political engagement, especially those interested in issues of social justice, democracy, equality, and anti-discrimination.

The foundation gives priority to applicants from underrepresented groups or those facing social or economic challenges, such as women, students from non-academic backgrounds, people with migrant backgrounds, socially disadvantaged applicants, and persons with disabilities, when qualifications and engagement are equal.

Benefits

  • Monthly financial support for students, which may include EUR 300 as a study costs allowance, in addition to living support of up to EUR 855 per month depending on the financial situation.
  • Funding for doctoral candidates with a total value of up to EUR 1,750 per month, including EUR 1,650 as a living allowance and EUR 100 as a research costs allowance.
  • Possibility of receiving additional support for health insurance, research or study stays abroad, and students with children.
  • Non-financial support, including seminars, workshops, summer schools, educational trips, training in skills such as public speaking, time management, and academic writing, in addition to a wide academic and professional support network.
  • The scholarship does not need to be repaid later.
  • Applications are submitted directly through the foundation, and applications are not sent by post.
