Grants for Master’s Students at Ghent University in Belgium

Ghent University offers a grant opportunity for new students who wish to obtain a master’s degree at Ghent University. The Top-up grant is for 2 master-years, but you need to prove at least 50 credits in the first master year. For the AY 2022-2023, 10 scholarships can be awarded for the best. This is your chance to complete your study with less load and get € 1000. 

If you get this scholarship, you will have:

• Allowance of € 1000 per month.
• All-in insurance (health, civil liability, repatriation).

Please note: The airline ticket and visa costs are NOT included in the grant.

You must follow the following criteria:

• New students who wish to obtain a Master's or Master-after-Master's degree at Ghent University.
• You must have:
• A bachelor's degree when applying for a Master's program.
• A Master's degree when applying for a Master-after-Master program.
• Only academically admitted students will be considered.
• Selected students need to do their thesis at Ghent University. 
• The coordinator of each English-taught master program proposes their top 3 applicants to the Committee for Development Cooperation (CDC).

Please note: The decision will be taken in May 2022 by the CDC.

Selection Criteria

You will be evaluated based on:

• Your qualifications for the Top-up grant.
• There is no strict age limit, although applicants below 40 years are preferred.
• Programs are encouraged to enlist female candidates.
• The significance of the master's program for your country.
• Validation of the knowledge in your country.
