Opportunity description
UNV is pleased to announce an online volunteer opportunity and its need for the efforts of two volunteers who are skilled in graphic design and proficient in Adobe InDesign (INDD) to format the translated JIAF Manual into Spanish and French. Each volunteer will be responsible for one language (Spanish or French). The translation and the design template (INDD) will be provided by the Design and Multimedia Unit (DMU).
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Format the translated JIAF Manual (approximately 90 pages) into Spanish or French using Adobe InDesign.
- Maintain the original document's design and layout, ensuring the translated text fits appropriately.
- Utilize paragraph styles in Adobe InDesign to ensure consistency and professional quality.
- Collaborate with DMU to address any design-related issues that may arise during the formatting process.
- Submit the final formatted documents in INDD package and PDF formats.
Please note:
- The design/layout should follow our corporate design guidelines which will be shared with the Online Volunteers in advance.
- You will have the opportunity to build connections with the Design and Multimedia Unit at UN OCHA and learn about the ways in which graphic design can support humanitarian response.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- A degree in graphic design or a related field.
- Professional experience in graphic design with previous experience in designing document layouts.
- In-depth knowledge of graphic design applications.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, with a strong understanding of paragraph styles.
- French and Spanish languages, Level: Working knowledge.
- English, Level: Fair, Desirable.
