The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is one of the UN agencies that promotes volunteerism to support global peace and development efforts. It enhances volunteerism as an effective tool to achieve development goals and integrates volunteers into UN development programmes and local communities.
The UNV Field Unit in Malawi is seeking two online volunteers to support visual content design efforts as part of the new onboarding project for UNDP staff and volunteers. The main role of the volunteers is to transform frequently asked questions (FAQs) into engaging static visual designs that enhance user experience and make information easier to understand.
Volunteering Duration:
2 weeks
(Approximately 11–15 hours per week)

Graphic Design – Creation of static animated visuals, digital visual support, and design for web and social media platforms.

Duties & responsibilities
- Create animated static visuals (e.g., GIFs, motion slides) for FAQs.
- Simplify complex information into clear, easy-to-understand visual elements.
- Ensure compliance with UNV brand guidelines (colors, fonts, tone).
- Develop reusable visual templates for future updates.
- Adapt content for various platforms including social media and email.
- Collaborate with the UNV team to review and revise designs before final delivery.
- Export final visuals in appropriate formats (e.g., MP4, PNG, GIF).
Eligibility criteria
- Proficiency in graphic and motion design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Illustrator, After Effects).
- Experience in creating short animated visuals (GIFs, motion slides).
- Ability to simplify technical content into visual form.
- Strong attention to detail and familiarity with branding principles.
- Good command of English (at least working proficiency).
