Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) in Qatar has announced the opening of admissions for its 2027 graduate programs, offering admitted students the opportunity to receive competitive scholarships and financial support for Master’s and PhD programs.
The university offers a wide range of academic and research programs in fields including science and engineering, health sciences, humanities and social sciences, Islamic studies, law, public policy, economics and management, and other disciplines.
Applicants do not need to submit a separate scholarship application. Students are considered for funding during the admissions process, and scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, financial need, and the availability of funding.

Benefits
The amount of funding varies depending on the program and degree type and may include:
- 100% tuition waiver for PhD programs in STEM fields.
- 100% tuition waiver for selected PhD programs in social sciences, humanities, and law.
- 75% tuition waiver for eligible STEM Master’s programs.
- 60% tuition waiver for selected Master’s programs in social sciences, humanities, and public policy.
- A monthly stipend of up to QAR 9,000 for international PhD students.
- A monthly stipend of up to QAR 7,000 for international Master’s students.
- The PhD stipend for international students may be provided for up to 45 months.
- The Master’s stipend for international students may be provided for up to 21 months.
- International students receiving a stipend are entitled to one round-trip international airfare during their study period, including an inbound ticket at the beginning of the program and an outbound ticket upon graduation.
Eligibility criteria
Admission requirements vary depending on the program and college; however, general requirements include:
- Holding a university degree from a recognized institution.
- Applicants to Master’s programs typically need a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Applicants to PhD programs typically need a Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Many programs require a strong academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0.
