Opportunity description
Illinois Wesleyan University awards President’s Scholarships and other need-based financial aid awards to international students each first semester. Students who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States are considered international students.
The merit-based scholarships are awarded to qualified international applicants with outstanding academic achievement and scores on required entrance exams. These awards are fully tenable and renewable for up to four years.
These scholarships are awarded each year to two highly qualified international students who demonstrate a demonstrated talent, interest, and academic achievement. The President’s Scholarship is renewable for up to four years of study at Illinois Wesleyan University.
Required Documents:
Application: Applications can be submitted through the University of Illinois Williamson website or through the Common Application Site (there is no fee or preference for one application).
Academic Records: Official transcripts from all high schools and colleges attended, including the last 3 years of grades. Records must be in English and certified.
English Language Testing: IELTS, TOEFL, GTEC, or Duolingo scores are accepted. Minimum Required Score: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80, or Duolingo 105. Scores older than two years are not accepted.
Essay: Personal essay.
Letter of Recommendation: One from an English teacher or counselor attesting to your academic and language abilities.
Family Financial Statement: Need-sensitive admissions policy for international students. After submitting the required financial contribution of $10,000 per year, applications are evaluated without consideration of the ability to pay (need-insensitive).
Copy of Passport: Must be emailed to: international@iwu.edu.
Standardized Test Scores: Submit one of the following: SAT, ACT, 3 AP tests, 3 IB tests or IB Diploma, and 3 A-Level tests. We do not require SAT Subject Tests. Or an interview (for optional tests).
For Fine Arts Students:
Audit Materials: Can be submitted online if you are applying to the School of Music or the School of Theatre Arts.
Portfolio: This may be uploaded as part of your application if you are applying to an art school.
