Opportunity description

The World Health Organization (WHO) is seeking an International UN Volunteer to serve as an Integrated Service Delivery Specialist in Juba, South Sudan. For a duration of 12 months, the volunteer will support the standardization of care and the revitalization of the primary health care (PHC) approach across the country to address communicable and non-communicable diseases.


Please note this is a FREE opportunity with no application or processing fees. As an onsite, full-time International assignment, it provides long-term benefits, life/health insurance, and monthly living allowances to support relocation and living expenses in Juba.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Support the rollout of digital and analogue care pathway tools across primary health care centers (PHCCs).

  • Monitor and update age-specific syndromic management flowcharts for common conditions across all age cohorts.

  • Map and engage key stakeholders at national and sub-national levels to ensure coordinated implementation of tools.

  • Support quarterly integrated supportive supervision, including quality of care assessments and performance feedback.

  • Develop practical user guides to accompany care pathway tools and detail the management of common syndromes.

Eligibility criteria

  • Must be a national of a country OTHER than South Sudan (Strict International assignment rule).

  • Hold a University degree in Medicine from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of 3 years of practical experience working in a health establishment or medical facility.

  • Fluent in English (Required).

  • Demonstrated experience in applying national or WHO-aligned care management guidelines at the primary care level.

  • Willingness and ability to live and work in harsh and potentially hazardous conditions involving physical hardship and curfews.
