Opportunity description

The European Commission announces its annual Science and Technology Policy Residency, a short-term research program hosted by JRC Makerspace, at the Joint Research Centre's Ispra site, in Italy. This opportunity is structured around specific concepts and topics directly related to the science and technology policy topics addressed in the JRC's annual work program where a new topic is proposed each year. This program aims to:
  • Attract innovative ideas and original projects that can combine arts, science, and technology.
  • Strengthening partnerships with local, national, and international manufacturers.
  • Promoting spaces needed for joint creativity.
  • Attendees will be asked to achieve tangible results, whether it is a workshop, a prototype, an artwork, or an exhibition.

Eligibility criteria

  • This opportunity will take place in the first quarter of 2024. Those accepted will be selected to develop tangible deliverables (e.g., workshop, prototype, artwork, exhibition), original and reusable to respond to the requirements of the challenges in one of the following proposed themes:
    • North Pole
    • Biodiversity
    • Bioeconomy
    • Public spaces
  • The maximum length of stay is 10 days at JRC Makerspace, in Ispra, Italy.
  • Please note that it will be necessary to carry out some preparatory work remotely in advance.
