King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia offers a fully funded scholarship for students who wish to pursue master’s and PhD programs in the fields of science, engineering, technology, and scientific research.

The KAUST Fellowship aims to enable academically outstanding students to focus on their studies and research without worrying about tuition or living costs. The university provides comprehensive financial support that covers tuition fees, housing, health insurance, and relocation costs, in addition to an annual stipend for accepted students.

This scholarship is considered one of the most prominent graduate scholarships in Saudi Arabia. It is suitable for students interested in scientific research, innovation, and fields related to technology, energy, environment, engineering, and computer science.

Available Programs

KAUST offers graduate programs at the following levels:

  2. PhD degree.
  3. Integrated Master’s/PhD track in selected majors, depending on program requirements.

Benefits

The KAUST Fellowship includes the following benefits:

  1. Full coverage of tuition fees and laboratory fees, with a value that may reach up to USD 35,000 per year.
  2. An annual stipend of USD 20,000 for master’s students.
  3. An annual stipend ranging between USD 25,000 and USD 30,000 for PhD students, depending on qualifications and academic progress.

  5. Shared housing for unmarried students.

Eligibility criteria

To apply for master’s and PhD programs at KAUST, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the intended program when applying for master’s programs.
  2. Applicants must have a master’s degree in a field relevant to the intended program when applying for PhD programs.
  3. Applicants must be at least 18 years old when enrolling at the university.
  4. Applicants must have a strong academic record and a competitive GPA.
  5. The minimum accepted GPA is 3.0 out of 4.0 or its equivalent.
  6. Applicants must prove English language proficiency through one of the approved tests.
  7. Applicants must submit all required documents through the online application portal.
  8. Applicants must have clear research motivation and an academic interest relevant to the intended specialization.
  9. Applicants must meet any additional requirements set by the program or academic department.

English Language Requirements

KAUST accepts the following English language tests:

  1. IELTS with a minimum score of 6.5, with at least 5.5 in each section.
  2. TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 81, with at least 17 in each section.
  3. PTE Academic with a minimum score of 62, with at least 59 in each section.
  4. Cambridge English Advanced with a minimum score of 176, with at least 169 in each section.
  5. Cambridge English Linguaskill with a minimum score of 176, with at least 169 in each section.

Required Documents

When applying, applicants must prepare the following documents:

  1. Official university transcripts.
  2. Graduation certificate or academic record from each educational institution attended by the applicant.
  3. CV.
  4. Statement of purpose or academic and research motivation letter.
  5. Contact details of three referees who will write recommendation letters.
  6. Official English language test score.
  7. A clear copy of the passport or national ID card.
  8. Certified English translation of documents if they were issued in a language other than English.
