The Khalifa Award for Education has opened applications for the Khalifa International Award for Early Learning as part of its 20th edition, 2026–2027. The award is an international educational prize dedicated to supporting research, programmes, and innovative practices that contribute to improving early childhood education and care.

The award targets individuals, teams, and institutions from around the world and focuses on initiatives and research that serve children from birth to 8 years old, whether through learning at home, nurseries and childcare centres, schools, or formal and non-formal education programmes. It also gives particular attention to practices that support children with disabilities and contribute to improving the quality of early learning.

Award Categories

The award includes two main categories:

  • Best Research and Studies.
  • Best Programs, Curricula, Teaching Methodologies and Practices.

Benefits

  • USD 50,000 for each winner.
  • Two winners are selected in each category, for a total of up to 4 winners.
  • The total value of the awards may reach USD 200,000.
  • Each winner receives a Certificate of Recognition and the Award Trophy.
  • If a team wins, the prize money is divided equally among the team members.
  • The award covers the winner’s travel expenses to Abu Dhabi to attend the award ceremony, including airfare, accommodation, and visa costs, in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Eligibility criteria

  • Applications are open to individuals, teams, institutions, and organizations from any country worldwide.
  • There is no age limit for applicants.
  • The research or programme must be related to children from birth to 8 years old.
  • The initiative may be local or international.
  • Each applicant may submit only one application in one category during the same cycle.
  • Applicants may not participate in another award in the same field during the same year.
  • Applicants must not have received another award for similar work in the same field within the past two years.
  • In the Research category, the research must not have been prepared for the purpose of obtaining a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree.
  • The application and all submitted materials must be in English.
