Melrose Film Festival and Short Film Competition

Film Freeway is pleased to announce the events of the Melrose Film Festival and a competition for imaginative filmmakers. Driven by innovation and creativity this annual festival has been dedicated to celebrating the art of visual storytelling in short films, animation, and music videos. This is the chance to share your stories and make all aware of your creativity.

If your film has been selected, you will have one of the following awards:

• Official Selection: All films chosen to screen at the festival will receive one digital certificate with laurels.
• Category Winners: A single film in each of the five categories will receive a digital certificate with laurels.
• Audience Choice: A digital certificate with laurels.

You should follow the following terms:

• Submissions are limited to 1 project per filmmaker.
• Films must stay at or under 10 minutes in total length.
• Please include subtitles for non-English language films.
• All films should have been completed within the last 2 years.
• Films produced or financed by a major motion picture studio are not eligible to submit.
• Films must adhere to the standard G and PG rating, outlined with the Motion Picture Association of America film rating system.
• Films should be shot in HD or higher and compatible to view on HD devices.
• Filmmakers must provide a high-resolution poster.
• Films must provide a password to view films on privately locked platforms.
• Orange County Library System holds the rights to screen films more than once or broadcast on a local TV channel.
• You must provide a working e-mail address to receive an Official Selection Certificate.

Timeline:

• Opening Date: March 1, 2022.
• Entry Deadline: May 1, 2022.
• Notification Date: August 1, 2022.
• Event Date: September 9 – 24, 2022.
