Opportunity description

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) is seeking 7 Online Volunteers to provide Research Support for the 2026 UN E-Government Survey. Over a duration of 12 weeks (16-20 hours per week), volunteers will conduct regional assessment research to validate the accuracy of data collected from national and local-level portals across different continents.

Duties & responsibilities

Conduct regional assessment research to validate the accuracy of data collected from national-level and local-level portals.
Weeks 1 & 2: Focus research on Asia.
Weeks 3 & 4: Focus research on Africa.
Weeks 5 & 6: Focus research on Europe.
Weeks 7 & 8: Focus research on Oceania.
Weeks 9 & 10: Focus research on the Americas.
Weeks 11 & 12: Compile and validate the final accuracy of all collected data.

Eligibility criteria

Must be fluent in English and the official language of the assigned country.
Possess strong research capabilities, analytical skills, and IT skills.
An understanding of public policy, public administration, and e-government is highly desirable.
No specific degree is required, but a background in relevant fields is an asset.
