Opportunity description

The United Nations Volunteers program offers an online volunteer opportunity in the field of climate change negotiation. Lebanon has demonstrated a strong commitment to climate improvement policies by ratifying key climate agreements, and has also affirmed its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to global mitigation efforts by joining the Kyoto Protocol. Lebanon's ratification of the Paris Agreement in 2015 strengthened its commitment to align national climate action with the agreement's ambitious goal of limiting global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius, highlighting its active role in the international battle against climate change.

Duties & responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Compilation and review of reports submitted to the Conference (COP) of the League of Arab States since 2015.
  • Compilation and review of reports submitted by the Environmental Integrity Group (EIG) since 2015.

  • Identify points of divergence (and/or convergence) between the priority actions of the League of Arab States and Lebanon’s priorities according to its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and other relevant climate change strategies presented by the Climate Change Team of the Ministry of Environment.
  • Prepare detailed reports explaining results, with clear visualizations of results (graphs and charts) and executive summaries.
  • The final output will be displayed as follows:
