Opportunity description
The United Nations Volunteers Program announces an online volunteer opportunity in the field of software testing and reporting. UNDP's Rule of Law program in Iraq is being expanded, building on past and ongoing interventions aimed at promoting equal access to security and justice. This comprehensive program plays a leading role in implementing the recently adopted security sector reform program in the domestic or civilian police, criminal justice, and oversight systems. The program generally works to form collaborative partnerships with a range of stakeholders including the Office of the Prime Minister, the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Ministry of Interior, the Supreme Judicial Council, the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, and a range of other relevant ministries and agencies; International partners and Iraqi civil society. You will be responsible for providing day-to-day program implementation support and assistance to the implementation of project activities related to security sector reform/rule of law engagement in Iraq, under the guidance and direct supervision of the Rule of Law/Security Sector Project Manager.
Duties & responsibilities
- The program is looking for three online volunteers to support the UNDP Innovation for Development project team in software testing and reporting on the INPoint platform.
- Volunteers will work under the direct direction and supervision of the project team, and in collaboration with other online volunteers if required.
- The online volunteer's primary responsibilities will include the following:
- Conducted a comprehensive technical review of the six modules of the INPoint platform and thoroughly tested their functionality.
- Identify and document any issues or errors encountered on the INPoint platform and mobile application.
- Provide effective solutions and recommendations to address identified issues, taking into account technical aspects and user experience of the platform.
- Compile a comprehensive report listing all issues identified and their appropriate solutions and submit it to the project team.
- Work closely with the project team to ensure timely communication and collaboration with the software development company responsible for the platform.
- Arranging meetings, if necessary, to discuss technical issues, clarify requirements, and provide additional information to facilitate resolution of issues.
- Collaborate with the project team to design and implement various activities aimed at testing the platform with the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
- Create and implement relevant test scenarios, engage stakeholders within the enterprise ecosystem, and gather feedback to evaluate platform performance and usability.
- Provide technical assistance to the project team during meetings or physical events in Baghdad or other locations, if required.
- Improve the INPoint Platform by actively participating in testing activities and providing valuable feedback to enhance its functionality and user experience.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Degree in information technology, computer engineering, programming, or any other related field.
- Fluent or intermediate skills in mobile application development or website development, with experience testing software applications for functionality, performance, and usability.
- Strong/intermediate knowledge of software testing methodologies, including test planning, test case creation, implementation, and defect tracking.
- Familiarity with software testing tools and frameworks is preferred.
- Ability to analyze complex systems and identify potential problems or errors.
- Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and propose effective solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate issues, provide clear explanations, and collaborate effectively with the project team and the software development company.
- Meticulous attention to detail to accurately identify and document issues, ensuring comprehensive testing and reporting.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a remote team, coordinating with other volunteers and the project team to achieve common goals.
- Knowledge of the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
- Proficiency in English.
- It is preferred that you have similar work experience in Iraq and work experience with similar projects or platforms.
- Fluency in the Arabic language.
